Having cancelled my trip to Toronto to take care of Bear, and after all the tummy rub until 3am, I took him to the vet for an X-Ray. Doctor said Bear has gas and prescribed several medications,
1--Metoclopramide Syrup 1 mg
2--Simethicone Drop 20 mg
3--Metacam 1.5 mg
4--critical care, which is not really medication, just grounded hay.

Bear has had 1 dose of each medication, and will be getting another round tonight, so every 12 hours. Finn accompanied Bear and they were together the entire trip to the vet. Finn was obviously worried about Bear, and they huddled together during the trip to the vet.

Seeing Bear and Finn together made me forget about the $400 I just blew at the vet. They are just the best of friends. Bear is the bestest friend to Finn, and I couldn't be happier to spent all $400 at the vet instead of on a vacation in Toronto.

Hi

I am ever so sorry that Bear has developed bloat.

We don't recommend simethicone for guinea pigs since it collects the gas in one larger bubble (makes it easier to work out in a shorter and much wider carnivore pet gut) whereas as guinea pig guts are are very thin and narrow - and much, much longer. In my personal experiences it has not made a positive difference with serious bloating.
Metoclopramide is the standard drug for gut problems; it acts on the musculature of the gut in order to help work the gas out.
Dog strength metacam is also good since bloating is very painful.

Please take the time to read these two guide links which you may find helpful:

All the best. Sorry about the expense and the cancelled trip.

My poor Bear passed away after taking all the doctor's medications. All the medication was probably too much for him to take in. I am trying to think what I could have done differently to save my poor Bear.
Before the vet visit, Bear was walking around, and after tummy rub and critical care, he went poop. Bear was bright before visiting the vet. I decided to take him to the vet just to make sure everything is ok with Bear. Now I am thinking that I should have just taken care of him at home by myself, giving him tummy rub and critical care.

After taking the medications, Bear appeared to take it easy, not moving around a lot. I also stopped giving him tummy rub, believing that doctor's medication will do the work. I was totally wrong.
