Hi my guinea pig just had a cold and it was a real struggle to give it to her orally :( I've heard this is because it tastes REALLY bad. Just in case one of them ever needs it again, is there a safe way of sweetening it or making it more appealing to them?

Thanks thats great I'll do that if I ever use it again-its SUCH a nightmare to give them the who syringefull! O0

Hi there, just wondering, you said a whole syringe full?
The usual dose is 0.3-0.4ml twice daily.... how much were you advised love?
No they hate it totally, but i found i fed something yummy a fav fruit or parsley even or in Duke's case his CC first then slipped the syringe into his mouth with his little serve of Baytril and then offered his CC (critical care) again straight away and also water to get rid of the taste O0
Hope you're little one gets better quickly :smitten:

No its ok I dont mean a whole syringe I just mean 0.4 ml sorry
Youre right, they really hate it.
I tried that idea before and I ended up getting quite badly bitten because my finger was pretty much behind the kale while I put the syringe in.
She's better now thanks, we dont know why she got a cold as we keep them inside and my other guinea pig didnt get one.

my vet always puts a small amount of sugar in and gives it a good mix. only a very very small amount but it always helps the medicine go down!

or put it onto a piece of cucumber and watch like a hawk that he eats it all!

Thanks I'll ask her to do that next time
CAnt use cucumber though, for some reason my guineas hate it
