Hi everyone,

As some of you may know from my other thread, Zorro went to the vets today. And luckily nothing major has been found and he's pretty healthy. However he is on baytril for conjunctivitis that is a little persistent and slightly crusty eyes (he's also on some eye drops).

I was just giving him his first doses of medicine now, and realised that he has been prescribed 0.16ml of Baytril 10% twice a day?

Is this normal? I have only had 2.5% baytril prescribed to me in the past.

I have given Zorro his first dose, if the above isn't correct, will this cause an issue?

I'm sure it's fine but just wanted to make sure? I gather this is a stronger concentration?

Its just last week my biggest chunky boy Lancelot, who is 1441g, was prescribed 0.28ml of baytril 2.5% once a day.

Zorro is 1164g for reference.

Please advise if this sounds right? Sorry if its a silly question!

Not a silly question. Baytril 10% is stronger so I would ring your vet to double check. I have only ever been prescribed 2.5%

I just spoke to the vets!
Turns out they don't keep 10% baytril in their stock ever, it was just an error with the labelling. They were very very sorry and have assured me it's 2.5% and the head nurse has confirmed this. I feel better now. I'm assuming their computer system must work like our healthcares computer system where you just type a name of a drug, it comes up and then you can select it to print. Maybe someone just typed in baytril and clicked the wrong strength.

That's a weight off my mind at least. Bless the receptionist, I was absolutely fine that it was just a wrong label but she was like "no I will flag this for the team, because this should NOT happen ever."
