Hi guys!
My guinea pig hasn’t had a bath in over a year. I read online that they have to do it at least once a year? Is it true?

No that’s not true. They should only have a bath is there is a medical need to do so - at the end of ringworm treatment, a bum bath to keep back end clean in an elderly piggy who is no longer able to reach to keep themselves clean etc.

Bathing isn’t necessary or good for them if they are otherwise healthy.
My eldest piggy is 6 years old and is still keeping himself perfectly clean, he’s never had a bath in his whole life.

I don’t bath any guinea pig unless it is absolutely necessary. Most of the countless pigs I’ve kept over the years have never had a single bath.

I only bath my long hair piggies. After a bum bath, wet hair is easier to cut too.

I had to bath my long haired piggy just once in his six years as he sat in pee. Hair kept short and there was no need for any routine or regular bathing
