Hi everyone,

I have heard you can use bath mats in "high traffic" areas of the cage and change them more frequently. I.e. where they sleep/excrete. Can anyone suggest a safe material or what should be avoided. I'm assuming anything with that tinsel-like stuff sticking out of it would be a chewing/swallowing hazard.
Any suggestions? Anything that has worked for you? If you can send pics or links or just suggestions would brilliant.

I use microfibre bobble bath matts from Wilkos. I have a sewing machine so I cut them into smaller pads and sewed up the raw edge so they didn't fray. The piggies love them. Haven't caught them nibbling at all and hay tends to come off pretty easily, although seed heads do stick.
Thank you for your reply. Microfibre is safe. That's good to know. :)

I got some from ebay. I found that they only last a day or two at most before needing to be changed. Does help the liners to last longer though.View attachment 159239View attachment 159240
Yes I want to protect the back part of the cage and fleece for longer. Womble's feet are looking a little pink and I think it's because he's lying and going the loo in the same place. I'm hoping this will help.
