Junior Guinea Pig
I can't find my other thread I made when I thought my girl had ring worm.
No one else got it, her hair is growing back, and today I noticed her cage mate chewing on her whiskers/facial fur. So now I'm leaning toward it was a case of over active barbering. Arwen does tend to chew alllll the time. As soon as snacks are done she gnaws on the cage until I redirect her to toys and chews, then she nibbles on that until she gets bored and goes back to the bars.
She takes breaks for naps and games of chase with Seraphina with much pop Corning and chatter.
She just seems to like to chew more than the average cavie.
Seraphina doesnt seem to mind it unless she tugs too hard and then Seraphina sqweaks and walks away.
I've never had a piggie barber before and now I have two I think. My other duo has a peruvian or sheltie and her hair does not grow even at all. I'm assuming her cage mate is keeping things under control.
Do I need to worry about this behavior? It did cause a wound if that is what the origin of the wound is. They truly seem happily bonded more so than any other piggies I've had so I hate to separate them. They sleep together and play and just have a grand time so I'm not sure if this is a behavior that needs curbed and if so how to do it.
