I have three piggies (all boars) and two came home earlier ( one short hair, Beany and one long hair white Lamby)and the third one (long hair cream, Poofy) came home one week later. They are about 3-4 months. And now it's more than 1 months since they met and it's been 2 weeks since they live together... Since last week Beany started barbering Poofy and he's not barbering Lamby at all! Poofy just squeak loudly and run away... And we found bald spot on his butt! We separated them a while and try to make them together again. The barbering stopped 2 days and this morning we found there's a bunch of hair on the cages floor and a bunch of hair in the Beany's bed and he's sleeping on the hair, the hair was under his head and in his mouth... the hair was definitely Poofy's.

It's difficult to separate them because both Poofy and Beany are really rely on Lamby and most time they get along well with each other. Any advice please? Thank you!

Hi! There is not a lot you can do about barbering. With young piggies it often feels like social grooming gone overboard. I currently have a little barber myself and the two leaders of her group have been sporting rather bald backs for a while; but the two adults have been rather relaxed about it. It often passes, though. Some longhair or partially longhair piggies will remain with a short haircut of you have a persistent barber or several barbers in a group.

Please do not separate. It is very upsetting for the piggies. If you can, please just grin and bear it.

Thank you for your reply! Sorry for hearing you got a barber, too. It's a relief to hear that they don't need to separate and this will pass:D

Yesterday I went home just found one side of Poofy's hair is much shorter than another side and there's some hairs (without hair roots) on the liner. Looks like Poofy finally let Beany barbers him and stopped running away I guess? Maybe he found that running away just got more pain...

Thank you for your generous reply again! Hope all our little barber will lost the passion of barbering sooner:)
