I know some pigs 'barber' others, but one of mine (admittedly one who is very easily stressed out/wound up) seems to be chewing her own fur.

She doesn't have mites or lice, no sign of fungal, and I can't see how she can be bored/lonely as she lives with 3 others in a huge hutch with pigloos etc

any ideas why?

Barbering is a weird hobby.

Lottie obviously does it to Lola, because Lola has a fab slick coat considering she is a Coronet. Her hair is cropped nicely. I have seen Lottie doing it.

This is the first time I have ever experienced this in guinea pigs. I don't mind because it saves me trimming Lola, but I think sometimes she does take kindly to Lottie doing it! rolleyes

Are you sure that she is doing it herself and not one of the others doing the barbering when you aren't around?

I didn't think it would be one of the others, about 6 months ago she lived in a hutch with another (different) 2 and always had a slighty barbered coat then.

Maybe they all like babering her fur!
