My guinea pig has a 36'' by 14'' cage. In metric, that's about 1 m by 1/3 m. does that have anything to do with why he chews his cage bars constantly, and how can I get him to stop?

It's a pain, since I don't really have room in another place in my house for him (he's in my room) and evry night I'm carrying his cage to a temporary space each night and back every morning.

Plz help!

Does he have anything like willow sticks, or willow balls in his cage.
That may stop him trying to chew the bars.

I am sure someone else will be able to help you more.

Is he by himself in the cage? He might be lonely. My boar did this until I got other pigs, it drove me mad too and I felt sorry for him.

I agree that something else to chew would be good - and giving him toys such as hay stuffed in an empty toilet roll.

Well, bue to unadequate space, I'm sorry to say he has no partner.

laying around his cage!

And I tried the toilet-paper and hay thing, but he gobbles up the hay in a second and goes back to chewing, same with when I fill his hay rack!

One of my boars, Jimmy, never wheeks, but when I feed them their veggies if I go to Harry and Nibbles first,
he chews the bars as if to say "hey what about me?"
Is it possible, he is trying to get your attention?

Alice did this too until i got her a boyfriend so if he is alone that may be the problem. i gave her lots of chew toys and attention but it never stopped until the love of her life arrived!
Hope you find something to distract him, parsley bells seemed to work for a little while if thats any help. :)
