Please help my piggy, Jewel. She has a hard ball on her cheek and I don't know what to do. It is hard and bald. She acts completely fine and because of her age I am scared to take her to the vet, please help!!

It’s very late in the UK at the moment so people will be along to answer when they wake up :) if a piggie has a hard lump anywhere I would definitely take them to the vet though, I know it might be scary because of her age but they will ensure she has the best possible care. Hope everything turns out well x

Some bumps can be ok and just be left alone but they are typically in older pigs and you could only really determine that if a vet sees her. How old is the pig? How long has it been there? Is it mobile at all? Is it obstructing her eating? Is she eating and drinking?
If she's losing weight , not eating or not drinking she needs to be taken to the vet ASAP
If its bothering her eating you could feed her mush so she dosent have to chew much

All bumps should be taken to a vet for correct diagnosis. You are right in that some bumps are benign, fatty lumps being common for piggies but I have never come across any anecdotes of these appearing on faces

I understand your fear of taking her to the vet but, whether you take her or not, doesn't change the fact this lump is there or what it is. It could be an abscess which are again quite common or it could be something more sinister. The problem is that no one can diagnose over the internet, she does need a hands on examination by someone qualified.

Any good vet will be able to talk you through all your options which should include factoring in her overall health and age when giving your options. If the vet thinks an operation is necessary then don't be afraid to ask about what they think the chances of success are given her age. I've never come across a vet unwilling to have this kind of discussion before and have had piggies with conditions where we felt it would be kinder to just give some pain relief daily until they were ready to leave.

Yeah me too when I had a pig with a bump it was on its back an the pig was 6-7 when it appeared and the vet said it was benign and that pig lived until she was 8 1/2 I have never heard of a face lump or one on a young pig that's been nothing unfortunately :(
