Hi,
As a New Guinea pig owner I have a lot of questions about what is normal and what is not. I noticed both piggies having a bald spot behind the ears. I don’t see any wounds, but I do see them scratching. I also wonder if their ears got balder. I only managed a good picture of Ben his bald spot, Rico kept turning his head. In Ben the skin is 2 colors, but I wonder if this is due to the spot normally containing black and brown hairs.
Is this normal or not? And if not, what best to do? They are 10 week old US teddy boars. They are currently on part fleece bedding, part cotton/carton bedding. As soon as the cotton/carton bedding runs out I plan fleece everywhere.

Hi, some guinea pigs do have bald spots behind their ears...my piggies have them behind their ears and one has a bald spot on her chin area...the different coloured skin is normal, especially if they have multicoloured fur...but if you have concerns about their skin you can always make a just incase appointment to have them get a general health check...then if anything comes up it can be treated quickly...if not then your piggies are healthy and you'll have peace of mind...
