My guinea pig, Badger has recently started biting. I havn't changed any f his feeding habits or anything. It just seems to be as I stroke him and reach his behind he turns round and bites you. The first time he did this he just latched on for a few seconds. He draws blood ALL the time now. He always loved me since birth and was ever so friendly. Now he's a little devil. Is it something I did?mallethead

wow I cant say I've ever heard of that before! I once had my guinea bite my leg HARD twice because I had been clipping her nails and I accidentally tipped her beyond her comfort zone and she squeeked.. when I righted her and popped her on my lap she brooded for a minute then BIT! never did it ever again though so I don't think it was deep seated.. but what you're describing sounds either like a massive dominance thing or massive pain!

There is absolutely no chance he could have any digestive issues, or internal lumps that are pressing on nerves etc? how is his walking?

A lot of piggies really don't like having their bums stroked, how old is he?

agreed, my girls rumble quite hard when you do, but will sit and tolerate or slip out from underneath you. Biting until blood seems really extreme for a guinea! :( A difficult behaviour that might take a long time to overright!

Maybe when your holding him, hold him in a cosy or upturned pigloo as that should make him feel safer with you and not so scared which is maybe why he is biting?

it could be he is sore, you might want to check for a wound or lump.
probally nothing, might just be grumpy!
hope he stops biting

He's fine, he's around 7 month. He's fine with walking and bathing. I don't think its dominance/territorial. There isn't any lumps or digestive problems. There isn't a wound because if I have him out one cat is scared of him and the other just stares. But it seems to be when he is on the floor not in my lap. If you get what I mean
