So things with Shaun’s poop issues have got worse.

Fibreplex yesterday has made it worse. And a few sprigs of coriander yesterday.

His poops are today like mushy peas in consistency and light in colour and STINK! I had to full on bathe him this morning.

My vet has suggested no veg again ever and to stop the fibreplex too. She says it’s doing more harm than good. But then she also suggested to put him to sleep so I’ll take what she says with a grain of salt tbh..

There is nothing more I can try. I have exhausted all options. He is also losing weight again.

I don’t think there’s any more suggestions you guys can give me it’s just something we will have to live with.

Oh no I’m so sorry to hear this. My boys had soft, stinky poops recently. I stopped their veggies and gave them pellet mush with Pro C in it for about 5 days and it finally settled down. Obviously theirs weren’t as bad as Shaun’s.

Is there something else going on with Shaun or just soft poops?

According to the vet he’s perfectly healthy other than the soft poops. But the vet suggested putting him to sleep! 😮 Bit drastic just for soft poops right?!

I don’t have a savvy vet here anymore, my independent vet was taken over by a chain vet and they’re SO BAD!

Would it be ok if I do take her advice and not give him any veggies anymore? He’s been off them for about 3 weeks now. I gave him 2 sprigs of coriander yesterday and fibreplex for the first time and this today..

I'm sorry to hear this. Yes it is fine for him to not have veggies but did keeping him off the actually stop the soft poops entirely?
If it didn’t, then while the veg may have made it worse, not having them haven’t helped either!

Has he had his poops tested? (I may have asked this before) is there could be some bacteria, parasite, something in his gut which is causing this

Not really much difference with or without the veg but definitely worse with it. He can have a day or two when they’re a lot better but then without changing anything it does tits up again and today is the worst. All day soft, mushy and really smelly.

Is there a way I can possibly send off his poops somewhere myself instead of going through my vet? They’re so expensive it’s crazy! So far taking him and forth over the last few months has cost me close to £1000 and if I’d seen results then I wouldn’t care about the money but I’ve not seen anything change.

He’s drinking gallons of water too. A full bottle a night and half a day..

My next option was test the poops for parasites or bacteria too.

I wouldn’t think so, I’d imagine you’d have to go through the vet but I’m not sure.

Is his weight stable and is he eating lots of hay?

He has lost a lot of weight in the last few weeks but it is stable now. He was massively overweight tbh, but since stopping all veg and cutting down drastically on his pea flakes and changing the hay from soft Timothy he has lost a fair bit.

Tons of hay! He has unlimited piles and hay bags, he eats it no stop.

I just can’t afford it right now. This issue has cost me so much in vet fees and as I have to go to a chain vet they’re stupidly expensive. Nearly £45 just to be seen. The last appointment cost £170 and they literally did nothing. So no more vets.
