Could be potentially a VERY stupid idea but just curious if it’d work.
I have a homemade cage that was originally a wire bottom so waste would fall through (that has been covered so it’s a hard bottom for the piggies) however, I still have the drawers underneath and had a potentially dumb idea but figured it might work... if I were to place heating pads in the drawers on the lowest temperature at night, do you think it’d make the floors of their grounds warm? I’m trying to think of cheap/safe alternatives for my piggies (one skinny) for the chilly nights, but sometimes I cannot stand my house being so warm. Snuggle safes aren’t sold in my area and frankly extremely expensive for just a heating pad... the piggie wouldn’t come in contact with the pad and it’d just be on through the night at low temps. Idk if you can see what I mean but I have a pic of the drawer underneath the house, tell me if I’ve gone mad or not but doesn’t hurt to ask!

No heat and wood never a good idea... could get too hot!

What about hot water bottles instead? They'd be a safer alternative than heating pads, especially if snuggle safes aren't available, and your piggles wouldn't come into contact with them. I used to do the same with my first piggies in the winter.

The floor isn’t wood, and is covered with a few layers of fleece, but I see your point!

I ended up taking those microwave bean bag heating pads and wrapping it in a thick fleece pillow case, warm enough for them to stay toasty, but cool enough for them to lay on.

I also feel it is important to offer a heat source, but one they can chose to move away from if they want to.
So a heated bean bag or snuggle safe is perfect.
Just remember that although snuggle safes seem expensive they do hold their hear for hours, and things like bean and rice bags only stay warm for an hour or two.

I’ll check into them! $40 is just a little silly to spend on a snuggle safe but I’ll definitely keep it in mind.
