Why do piggies squeal when you rub them backwards up their back?

I haven't a clue but Africa did it badly until I gave him a bath with gorgeous piggie shampoo (helps get rid of mites) and he does it less now. Maybe it's just unconfortable.

Have you checked for mites? Sometimes, painful skin can be the reason why guinea pigs don't like being stroked.

I know a lot of my pigs don’t like it ,I always thought it was because pushing the fur follicles against the natural growing direction irritated them

but they have never squealed , maybe there is a small wound
