I am thinking about changing back to fleece after the holidays.
I know all the washing and stuff but any other tips?
Also should I put towels or puppy training pads underneath? I tried towels but it didn't work so great. Also any tips on trying clean out the cage daily?
Any other tips would be helpful.

I put two towels underneath, in the housing and enrichment section, look at the stickies there is a post with many ideas, also have you thought of vet beds? How did the fleece with towels not work, did you use softener? x

I didn't use softener but the towel seemed much more muckier and wet as it should of been. Do you know if puppy pads work?

Mmmm how often did you change them? And there good but if you buy disposable it can be expensive, try like a waterproof mattress cover underneath

I just use newspaper underneath. It's all worked fine for me. I just take all the fleece out daily, shake it all over the floor then Hoover up the mess lol. Works great for me and my boys :-)

I love using fleeces but the hay on the fleece is a nightmare lol

Couldn't agree more! Though I know have a hay basket which I line with newspaper so it's cut it down a huge amount. I also find either really harshly shaking it gets it off, or fIling that using a stiff brush..

Have you trying vet bed , all mines are on it ,
it may cost a bit more but they last so much longer than fleasses , and are the hight of piggy comfort

Tell me about it lol! I used a tough brush and dustpan, but literally the only bad thing about fleece!

You can buy vetbeds in long tubes for £15 which can make a lot of beds or fill a whole cage! xD

For multi pig keepers you can buy a full roll for 200 pound , it wotks out at around 5 pound a cage

I would Deffo recommend a hay tray! It's cut down the mess in my cage and made my fleece liners less soggy as they tend to do their business in the tray a lot :)

I've used towels but if you've found them not too great I'd try reusable puppy pads, you definitely need something there anyway! :)

Yeah, my dad has an old tray he used for the hens so I will cut an opening in the front so they can get in and out.

I gradually converted from regular bedding to fleece then vetbed. I started using towels but discovered drying them is a pain if its not a sunny day. Bought some washable incontinence bed pads from amazon & eBay, and a couple of 'washable puppy training pads' from 'vetfleece' on eBay (where I bought most of my vetbed) Have found this to be much easier solution for us. The vetbed dries quickly at room temp, the pads on the line or in the dryer or over a radiator, but prefer to towels

I use a horse curry comb, it is used on horses in moulting season so it does work really well on hay and hair. I have not found anything better for sweeping up the hay and hair on the fleece each day before changing day. I have posted a picture of what they look like. you can buy online or at any tack shop.

I am actually a horse rider so I have one of those. Thanks.
