Hi everyone.

Had a brilliant time in Rome.

Wowwee :) I am not one for historical things, but have to say was totally bowled over by the city and cant wait to go back some day as we just didn't have time to see everything. O0

Saw lots of well known places from the outside but not enough time to go exploring in them. Will post some pics later when loaded them up.

All the furries are OK, and have been since we got back yesterday. Used a pet sitter who came to the house to check on everyone 3 times a day, and they all are. Of course have been fretting while away like a worried parent about it as never used one before....but all fine and unfazed! :o.. and don't think they missed us! ;D

So looks like the sitter is going to work out from now on, as its been far less stressful for the cats, furries and me in the long run. Cats have been a bit sulky but they are OK really, just doing what cats do best...but its by far less stressful than being carted to cattery as they really do hate it there.

The surprise of meeting up with hubby's family worked brilliantly and there were a few tears shed. (Remember we were all supposed to go on two week cruise with his mom & dad and siblings etc but due to work etc we couldn't go with them.!. The focus of the Cruise was for them to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary (7th April) and wanted all the family to be there with them on the Cruise. We were the only ones that couldn't go. :'( But as we knew they would be off the boat and in Rome on their special day, we sneakily arranged to be there too so we could wish them happy anniversary too. One one of the sisters and hubby's knew.

We managed to sneak up behind them at St Peters Basilica when they arrived... and oh boy did they have a suprise! :) :) :) :) . Everyone was totally blown away! So the plan worked well (thankfully) and we got to wish the mom and dad Happy Anniversary on the day they got married 60 years ago.

It was a good break, cost us a packet to do it but was worth every penny just to be there briefly with them all.

Pics later on.

P.S Back to reality now though and time to de-poop the shed. ! ::)

what a wonderful thing to do for thier anniversary I remember you saying you couldn't go on the cruise becasue of work, we went ona med cruise in 05 and saw St Peters Basilica the whole place is amazing and I cant wait to go back next year on another med cruise, I love historical places and loved Rome although did find the graffiti and clothes hanging out of windows every where a bit disapointing, lovley place though, any way welcome back

know what you mean Michelle, saw lots of that too, and many beggars on corners. The street vendors are a major pain but just have to ingore them and just swallow up the splendour of the place. St Peters Bascillica is amazing, only saw it from the outside as it was just so packed and the queue to get inside was right round the square. ! :o

Heres a few pics O0

Rachel mentioned you had a sitter in when i collected the furries Sat eve after my hols - glad it worked out ok, its something we might consider if I cant find anywhere to baord in the future.

The suprise meet up was a wonderful idea :)

wow seems like you had a fab time! i wanna go there, apparently its amazing. Thanks for sharing the great piccies:D

I was surprise to hear the Pope has his own principality ( its classed as a country) he has his own police etc the pics are wonderful and takes me back, is that the Trevi fountain? did you see Hadrians tomb its hugh? the bridges are also pretty aren't they, I would have thought the graffiti and clothes everywhere would have been stopped in such a historical place, the Colosseum is brilliant as well did you see the Gladiators, you had to pay to have your pic done with them with your own camera cheeky sods, we saw a street vendor carted off while we was there, cant wait to go back next year,

I have been a naught girl >:D and booked us to go back to Rome in September. So we can explore properly as the last trip was so rushed.

I just couldn't resist the 0.01p flights by Ryanair per person, each way! :o. Just need to find some cheap accommodation now! thank goodness for the internet.

Cant wait to go back there now, and see inside the Colosseum, and some of the other places we saw from the outside. O0

Thanks for sharing Deb. Hubby and I are going to Rome in June to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversay - 4 days, 3 nights, can't wait! Hope to do all the touristy things so your photos really got me in the mood!

Hope you have a fab return visit.
