We rescued Roo in December when he was about 8 weeks old. He gets on great with my other piggy Gizmo who was about 10 months at the time. Roo is now 8 months and Gizmo is 16 months.

Roo is growing up and seems to rumble all the time. Gizmo is very placid and most of the time he doesn’t take any notice. There have been a couple of occasions where there has been a bit of noise and upon looking they’re facing each other, chattering their teeth. This only lasts for a few seconds then they go back to running around and being perfectly content with one another.

They haven’t actually been fighting , it’s just the teeth chattering but this has been the same for about 3 weeks now and I just wondered if there will ever be an end? I’m happy at the moment as they’re not fighting at all but obviously there’s some aggression there. I know Roo is growing up and I knew there would possibly be some male dominance I’m just hoping they can get through it and live in harmony again!

Has anyone else ever experienced this and does it get better?!

Gizmo is on the left and Roo is on the right :)Giz&Roo.webp

You will see it off and on until the little one has reached a more settled adulthood. The hormones comes in spikes, so there will hopefully be better and worse times. You can do a short temporary separation if things a very close to blowing up; re-introduce next day on netural ground after testosterone removing bath and cage clean (including any furniture). You can't do this too often or it will become counterproductive, but it can prevent the odd situation getting out of control and ending up in a serious fight.
