Hi, I adopted a Guinea pig recently and I am adopting 3 more as a friend. He is a male so I am in the process of getting him neutered. I am adopting 3 more baby females. They are 8 weeks old and I wounded if they would live happily together in a 120cm cage until June ? In June I would make them all a huge c&c cage. Would this be okay ?

Hi there :) How old is your male guinea pig? Although male guinea pigs are fertile from 3 weeks old therefore able to inpregnate a female, male guinea pigs should not be neutered until they are around 4 to 5 months old. You must then wait a further 6 weeks post op until he is safe to go with females

He's 3!

120cm is the minimum recommended cage size for 2 piggies. Here is the link to your previous thread.
Cage

Why do you have to wait until June to make a c and c cage?

For a neutered boar and 3 sows you will need a considerably larger cage than 120cm.

They grow really fast so a 120 May be too small very quickly for the three girls and if the boy is going in as well sorry, definitely not.

Please remember even after neuter/castration they are able to make the females pregnant for at least 4-6 weeks.
So if you castrate him today, you have to wait 6 weeks before you can introduce him to the females.

A 1,2m cage is too small for 4 guinea pigs. And even for 2 I would not recommend it for a long time.

I would castrate him as soon as possible. And after the 6 weeks, get one female. Then after you purchased the C&C cage, you can get the other 2 females.
