How long should alfalfa hay be fed to baby guinea pigs? I have read til 6 months but then I have also seen I can feed same pellets I feed my 3 year old & Timothy hay. I give my 3yr old oxbow Timothy hay & orchard hay mixed
They don’t need alfalfa hay after they are weaned at 3 weeks old. It’s only really used in very tiny amounts to top up mum’s reserves.
Any baby guinea pig pellets which contain alfalfa should ideally be stopped by 4 months of age but in reality don’t actually need baby guinea pig pellets or alfalfa at all as they can eat normal timothy hay and timothy hay based pellets from birth.
