I have just rescued 2 baby Swiss boars age 5 weeks old . They are gorgeous ! One boar called Rumple has become curious of my hand and has started to try and nip my finger. I don't know of it is just him getting to know me or if it is a baby thing . Anyway , I don't want him to get in to that habit ! Any advice greatly appreciated . Thanks .

That is just normal. He is getting used to your smell and taste. :)

Thanks , that is what I thought really, it isn't a big bite just like a wee taste nibble . :))

Guinea pigs sometimes nip if they can smell veg on your finger/hand and think that you're edible! Some pigs might give a gentle nip because they're trying to tell you that they want to go back in their home, usually when they need a wee (how considerate, when they don't want to wee on you?!) If this is the case, you'll probably learn to pick up the signs before they nip or tug at your clothes though, as they may well get a bit restless and squeek like mad! :)

Rocket nipped when he was a teeny weeny, now that he's a big boy ( all of 14 weeks! ) he seems to have grown out of it. :)

Thanks all ! My 2 older boys ( age 5 1/2 ) have never done it ! Hopefully wee Rumple will grow out of it . It isn't sore at all when he does it rolleyes

My piggie Dillon is no 1 year old and still bites me! It normally doesn't hurt and I have no idea why he does it. Sometimes if he is out for a cuddle he bites my neck and that hurts!

I don't think you can do much about it....every piggie is different x
