Hi there! I have just got a new baby from pets at home, when I’ve got her home I’ve noticed that one of her eyes is much smaller than the other as if she is constantly squinting, everything else is normal eating drinking pooping peeing active sleeping. The eye closes when I put my hand near so I don’t think she is blind in that eye, but I’ve never had any issues with any of my other pigs eyes before. I’m thinking a vet visit as soon as possible, has anyone else ever had any issues with baby’s eyes before? And should I be worried about it

Is that weeping at the corner of the eye as well? I concur with the thought of a vet visit as soon as possible. With eyes, it's not worth risking not getting it checked.

Please have her checked as soon as possible. Eyes are classed as an emergency. As treatment is the same for other animals , she can be seen by a general vet if you can get an appointment with them.

I would go back to P@H following the vet visit. You’re within your (consumer) rights to reclaim the cost of the vet and meds. Be aware there might be a time limit on this.

Is she going to be bonded with some other piggy(s) you have?

Yes I would go back to p@h I have had to do this previously with 2 piggies I got from there with respiratory infections, but I’ve never had a problem with eyes before now.

And yes she is currently right next to my other 2 girls in a separate cage so they can see and smell each other until I can start the proper bonding process on my days off from work

She really needed to be bonded straight away. This is on the assumption she is less than four months.

All the best and hopefully it’s something simple.

Yes definitely see a vet. Eyes are considered urgent and given priority in this country, they should be seen within 24 hours. I hope she is ok
