I heard somewhere in the hospital grounds is a mummy mallard with 14 babies :o

Imagine carrying all those eggs :o :o :o

Apparently the RSPCA have come to check them all out.

Woah! When I had a duck she had 4 never heard of 14! lol
Maybe she is a duckling-sitter ;D

wow amazing poor mum hope they all survive, our hospital also have a hugh duck pond in the grounds when you drive in theres warning signs everywhere to beware of wandering ducks

Gee that's amazing.. wow how would she ever be able to suckle and feed them? This we have to follow up on please :)

do ducks do that? I thought the young just started eating normal food straight away O_o

I had heard in the past that sometimes ducks in a group take it in turns to look after all the ducklings in the group but I don't know whether that is true. We saw a duck with 11 ducklings recently but the next time we saw her she had only 7. We recognised the ducklings because one was significantly more yellow that the others.

Might just be a hospital rumour

Or someone who had too much anaesthetic. ;D
