Hi

We also have a couple of very small piggies at our rescue centre. These two are 12 weeks old and are no bigger than a hamster.

Small piggies can be a result of a very young mother, or equally a mother that has been used for breeding on several occasions.

Having tried other things we are now about to start them on a worming course. There is a website call holisticpetsupplies that sell 4 seasons wormer that is perfectly safe for guinea pigs, obviously in smaller doses than stated on the instructions but this is our next step in hoping they start growing.

If your two don't show improvement in the next couple of weeks it might be worth trying a wormer.

I've just checked on the size of the babies here and at birth they were 80+ g and at 16 days old they were all about 200g. Perhaps that will help you to work out whether they are gaining sufficient weight according to their birth weight. The three babies here are all doing really well although mum is very tiny at a mere 638g, she was very young too.

Try and give them lots of small feeds throughout the day too in addition to their hay, pellets and veg.

The cavy cuisine by Oxbow do a pellet for little ones which is great, it's also worth giving them some alfalfa hay and mum of course too.
