We had a litter 2 days ago, the runt has an eye issue, I think he was poked with his mums claw at birth. He doesn't like opening it and it is looking slightly cloudy - although hard to tell. Is he too young for chloramphenicol drops? I don't want to drag all of them to the vets at 2 days old! He is 71g and one of 5. Thank you

Hi
Please see a vet for an inward turned eyelid (entropion) where the tiny lashes constantly irritate the eye surface and can cause permanent damage to the cornea if not addressed. It is a conditions that is not uncommon in newborns.
It is a very easy and quick procedure.

Please do not home treat on spec without having the cause of the problem removed.

How did you come by the pregnency?

will do - thank you :-) Planned pregnancy (we don't normally breed)- we're keeping all. we have a free roaming herd of females and the boys free roam in groups of 2 or 3

I've double checked and had a good look in good light and pretty sure it is actually entropion in both eyes. Have vet booked for tomorrow although they are more used to cattle here rather than small furries. Just looking at the entropion threads for more details. Thank you for your help

We support members who have accidentally found that they have pregnant sows (misgendering or mis sexed pairs). Our resources are not to be used by those who have intentionally bred their piggies.
