Has anyone found a good online supplier for Aubiose bedding? My nearest stockist is quite a long way away so delivery would be easier, but I'm finding the delivery cost is huge because of the weight. A 20kg bale is under £10 but with delivery nearer to £20. Anybody found a better price with delivery online please? :)

When I lived in the city I bought it from Titmuss as they have good prices, good customer service, and delivery is usually next day.

You're highly unlikely to find somewhere with cheap delivery of a large, bulky, and very heavy item such as bales of substrate. To offer a cheap cost of delivery the seller would have to be absorbing some of the costs themselves rather than charging you what you're getting. They likely wouldn't make them any profit on the sale, and perhaps even the opposite. It would make me question where they were cutting corners to compensate, to still be in business.

However if you have the space, it's usually much better value to buy two bales at once. In which case RatRations (small family business) may wind up cheaper than the above
ratRations.com, Rat food, base mixes and herbs

I am however jealous of your local-ish place selling them for under a tenner still; they're about £11 up here now.

not quite sure whereabouts you are in the southwest but have you tried the stockists list?
two of my local ones are on here but no longer trade from the addresses given, so would be worth ringing to confirm the info is up to date before ordering.

Thanks all. I don't expect free delivery as realise it is a bulky item but just wanted to check other options than, for example, ebay. The Titmuss link was a good one, thank you- a bale would work out at just under £16.50 (about £9.50 for bale and £7 delivery) which may be worth it considering I would have an hour or more round trip to buy in person. Really like the bedding itself and a bale lasts a long time, so well worth it :)

I use something called Fitch for bedding. It costs me £20.99 for 20kg and it's free delivery to most of mainland UK. It's a virtually dust free, white, paper based bedding. I find it really soft and use it for my hamster and Oreo. The company also sell hay, including Readigrass. It's £2 more expensive on Amazon, but less hassle to order.

An hour round trip to buy in person definitely doesn't feel very local! If you're rural it might be worth phoning up other small holder/ feed/ equine-type supply places to see if they stock it as it's gone from being rare (when I first started using it 10+ yrs ago) to more of a staple product. The stockists list above is only partially complete as none of the stockists near me are included in it. But Titmuss are very good :)
