Hi, I’m new on this forum so hope I’ve come to the right place! I want to try aubichick for my piggies bedding but am having difficulty finding a local supplier. Online, the cheapest I’ve found is from Equi-Box but postage is high. My location is Cambridge. Can any of you forum members out there recommend a stockist not too many miles from me? I’ve noticed others have tried this and found it good. One of my girls has allergies and everything makes her wheeze, especially at this time of year! I’ve already tried Aubiose but with no success. The girls live indoors and are currently on fleece but they are just so hot on this at the moment (also I’m fed up with the washing!) Any ideas most happily received. :)

Hello, I would recommend Timothy Hay, it’s more expensive but good quality and sometimes worth it, you can get it on a variety of different online websites, I’ve provided this one for you: Timothy Hay Box although I am aware you can get it on Amazon as well. I hope it helped. (Occasionally you may get a dodgy bag, normally the quality is great but people have said that once or twice they have received some not so good quality hay.)

If you got the Aubiose website they should show stockists of Aubichick as I think that’s one of their products. I’ve just had a quick look and there were three stockists in Cambridg. If your girl has hay allergies, it would be best to try different hays to see if one sets her off more than another.

Hello, thank you for your reply. My piggies are currently eating Timothy Hay with no bad side effects. So far I’ve tried two or three suppliers and the amount of dust varies considerably, also the length of the hay strands! The current one I am using is Selective from Supreme Petfoods via Zooplus and seems very good, and no wheezing! I shall check out the one you recommend too as prices for Timothy Hay can get quite steep compared to meadow hay. Thanks again.

Thanks for your advice. I shall check the website you recommend. Mostly I’ve found that only Aubiose itself is stocked and the bale size is too large for me to store as my girls live indoors. I’ve tried other hemp bedding but the smell becomes very strong quickly, although my allergic piggy seemed to tolerate it quite well. I’m hoping to get them off the fleece simply because of all the washing and the bad effect this has in the eco climate with fleece particles breaking down. I do use a horse wash bag but I’m sure particles must still escape! :( One good thing though, I think I’ve won the hay allergy battle by switching to Timothy Hay!

aubichick is also a 20kg bale.it is just alot finer than aubiose,no dust, texture is like sand.you need an inch in the cage so the moisture absorbs at the base of the bed.usually if a place stocks aubiose they will order aubichick from there suppliers.

Hi, Thanks for the information. I had noticed that other chicken bedding in my local pet supply store came in smaller bags (but they were wood based shavings which my allergic girl can’t tolerate), so I was hoping the aubichick might have been smaller too. Looks like I shall have to have a clear out or get a bigger shed if I have to buy the 20kg bale! Pity there aren’t sample packs for those of us who want to just give something new a try.
