Calling all cage engineers!

I am going to attempt to get my 4 to live together, and I currently have 2 Trixie 150 cages. I'd like to join them together somehow to make a larger area, but don't want to butcher the cages so that they can't be split again, as they were quite expensive.

I was thinking of some kind of tunnel, but not sure how to go about it. Has anyone done anything similar? If so can you post some pics of your setup?

Random ideas also welcome!

You can either make a tunnel in the sides with a bit of plastic pipe from a building supply job or you can build a platform where they can cross over, provided you can remove the sides of your cage tops.

Here is what I did two years ago before I switched to C&C:

It looks like I can remove the sides, think I will go for the platform option, need to make like a mini table with a ramp on each side I think. That could sit across the two cages, and if I put the legs in the right place, could help keep the two cages together.

I'm lucky in that they are identical cages I guess.

I used to have my cages like Wiebke but used a wooden house and the plastic shelf for them to move across on. I also had them side by side at one point and used the side doors for access now this pic is not very clear or ideal but it kind of gives you an idea of what i mean :)

New concept for joining runs & cages

I was given a leaflet by Wood Green animal shelter for a new innovation for connecting hutches or runs. I've recently rescued two sows for my neutered boars. I bought this tunnel system to connect my two large runs. Take a look at the website www.runaround.co.uk.
