I know that this sounds silly, but just lately, my boar Kadaj (turns out he wasn't a she (bad vet) and just getting fat, not expecting) has been catching my attention so much. He acts in such a strange way and I wonder sometimes whether guinea pigs can have Aspergers syndrome.

He is very antisocial with anyone, other than Gizmo, humping, snorting and huffing and puffing. But he also seems to have similar behaviors with humans as well. I pick him up and he squarks at me until I let him run around. He can be affectionate, but on HIS terms only. :))

funny little creature really

I guess you Could assume he has traits of an autistic spectrum disorder.
In human terms I was told by my sons Consultant that we are all on the 'Autistic Spectrum' it just depends where abouts we are on there, some humans like my son will show more signs of asd'd that other kids / adults.

It does affect their personalities and their traits and ways of life, so I find it hard to say yes a guinea pig Could have aspergers / autism. But they do have personalities and I guess you could associate some of their behaviour in Guinea pig terms with that of ASD in humans...

Dont think it will be an official 'diagnosis' anytime soon if I'm honest.
Its so hard to diagnose a child with ASD its taken over 5 years to get even remotely close to a diagnosis for my Owen.
You could just have an ASBO Piggy lmao, thats what I used to call my Owen 'ASBO Boy ' when no-one would give him the time of day / care or diagnosis he needed.

He must be my little ASBO piggy lmao, hes a funny little guy, one minute hes all nice and friendly, the next he wants to eat everything and everyone!

Lmao well he is male! need I say more ;)
He **** is just a little ASBO piggy lol sounds like a right character tho :)
You usually find the 'special' ones be human or animals have amazing characters I think x

We have a 'antisocial' pig. When she was younger she would stay away from the group. And litrally scream if any other piggie would come near her. She would squeal and run away and start fights. But as shes got older shes calmed down much more. She interacts with the piggies much better and shares her food (kind of). However i have never (yet) met a piggie with such attitude. If you arent doing what she wants she will bite, and hard too. Shes a little monkey and wouldnt change her for the world. There are the ASBO piggies out there. not sure on the answer to the question tho. Sorry.

x.
