Morning all,

Mali's lady love is here! She's the sweetest little girl who doesn't seem phased by coming to live with us or the Honey monster that is Mali!

So glad we rescued here from here previous home! When we arrived there was a cat sitting on top of her cage which had been left on the floor in the hall as the owners said it was an inconvenience to put her in another room. She had a whole orange pepper with no food ( as it is expensive)!! Her cage was black and had a build up of old poop! What's wrong with some people - I was furious!

When we got her home and cleaned up and gave her some proper good and some hay (they couldn't affords that either!) she seems much happier - even managed to give her claws a clip and they were curling under her wee feet!

Mali has been sitting watching everything going on (I've started calling him Al Capone)!
He needed a lot of cuddles last night for reassurance that he hasn't been replaced. As the cages are next to each other they have both had a sniff in each others direction but have mostly ignored each other for now. He looks like a big bruiser compared to her being small and dainty. She's very much a lady so guess that makes Mali the tramp!

Keep me posted if I can help the bonding process further until they can actually be introduced properly x x

Thank goodness you rescued her from such terrible conditions. I hope she settles in soon.

Some people are unbelievable. Well done you for getting her out of that house

Me too - when we got her all cleaned up and settled in she was popcorning around like it was Christmas morning!

Hopefully she will feel even better when she gets proper nutrition - she has never tried parsley, or cucumber etc before but now she loves it.

Mali was very jealous last night after some reassurance he seems a bit more curious. Hopefully the start of a beautiful friendship!

Looking for a big cage just now - what do you think?

So pleased you have taken her in from there. Go slowly with the introduction different veggies as her tummy won't have been used to it. We had to do this with one of our rescue piggies Megan who had suffered serious neglect. But after a few months she could eat most veg without upsetting her system.

I am sure your piggies are going to be very happy together, looking forward to pigtures in the future

Can't access that link but a ferplast 120 is a good bet. Have you thought of c&c cages? This sticky has a few links to cages and c&c sites in https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/getting-a-guinea-pig-items-youll-need-to-buy.112288/

Poor girl! :(

I am sure that your poor little girl will be very happy with you. Please be aware that you will have to conduct a quarantine in view of the neglect. It would also be good if Aspen got a vet check.

Be careful never to introduce more than one new veg at a time to not unbalance her digestion.

I have her booked into the vet for a check up - the wee soul seems quite chirpy considering the neglect she has had.

She has lived off orange pepper all of her life - I thought Guinea Pigs should only get red pepper? Should I give her some of Mali's Pellets?

Definitely keeping Mali away for the next wee while - his hairy coat would be a playground for any number of bugs!

Hiya, Where in Scotland are you ! We have spare 120 cages we could lend you until you sort out the one you want.. If you are anywhere near us.. @Mali's Mum.

We take it that Mali's been neutered.. ?

Lisa & Ali..x

Hi,

Thanks very much for your kind offer but they both have ages for the moment - getting them a 150cm Cage when they become Friends (Plus Mali is a big boy so he needs the room!)

Yeah he was neutered about a month ago - mummy and daddy were not popular after that but he seems to have recovered fine!

We are from Stirling so not far from you!

:)

Upsets me why anyone buys an animal before working out where thermos they can afford it. So glad you've rescued the little girl. Keep us posted on her x

So Mali will about ready to go with Aspen when she's finished with her quarantine...

Yeah that's the plan - been reading up lots on the introductions. She seems quiet confident - always out from her house watching the world go by where as he sits in his home - he's a gentle giant so he might be a bit scared of her.

Me too- it broke my heart seeing what conditions she was left in and she is so sweet considering how humans have treated her!

Wish I had the money to open a Guinea Pig Rescue and adopt all that need a loving home!
