I don't know what to do, I put Ralph and Arnold in a cage with a partition in the middle because both of them have been incredibly depressed. They so out of character now that they've been seperated...

The second I put them in the "same" cage...The change was instant. Both of them were very vocal, they were popcorning and eating lots more than they have been...They were both out of their pigloos and laying about on the floor but then...I was video-ing and realised what Arnold was doing...

I don't know what to do...It's breaking my heart to see him try so desperately to reach Ralph...

Have they drawn blood?

I remember when I Separated Bette and Milo, Bette was going crazy trying to get into Milo's cage but it wasn't to say Hi.

yes, Snowy and Flash do this, Snowy mainly, he has chewed to correx right down to nothing in one spot. But its only because they want to take a chunk out of each other.

They have but Ralph is the one that set on Arnold. They're fine with each other through the bars, there's no chattering or anything, they keep touching noses through the bars and chatting with each other so it seems really odd to think that Arnold is trying to get in there to have take a chunk out of Ralph...Especially when Arnold couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag.

Ralph managed to get into Arnolds side of the cage when I first did this yesterday and neither of them were all that bothered by each other. There wasn't even any rumbling. So it just seems strange that Arnold would all of a sudden want to take a chunk out of Ralph when he had every chance last night when my back was turned.

you could try putting them together in neutral playtime ground, or bath them together then give them playtime, if they are fine after this gently increase the amount of time spent together- That way you can be sure that they really want to be friends! x

Bette also managed to get to the otherside of the Divide and didn't attack Milo thats not to say she wouldn't have. At this point she had attacked Milo on more than one occasion.

You can try to put them back together, preferably on neutral ground first after a communal bath.

See how it goes under close supervision, especially back in the cage again - some boars actually will get back together for good. Others will fight again at some point. However, Ralph may not be as happy to have Arnold back, so have a towel ready to spearate if necessary.

If there is another fight, that will be the end of it, sadly.

Have a look at the tips in the introduction thread in the reference section.

I really don't know what to do for the best :(

I don't even know what I want to do. They seem fine today and Arnold hasn't tried to do anymore "digging".
I'd love to try and get them back together but...Ralph already attacked him once and it was pretty bad and I'm sure that if I hadn't have been there...He'd have gone back for round 2. Arnold doesn't stand a chance against Ralph in a fight. Even before I had Arnold, my little Louie was the dominant boy and one day Ralph just turned on him...Actually cut his mouth, too! But it wasn't as bad as Arnolds and he then became dominant.
So really...From experience, I should do the sensible thing and say "This is it. No more."

I just don't know.
I have to make a choice.
What would you guys do in my position? Be honest.
I've never experienced this before, I've only ever had 3 piggies and I've never had to split them up like this before. I never knew it could be this difficult.
I just want to do the right thing by them. :(

I'm sorry. This is really upsetting for me.

I've been here more than once and it's awful, with Bette and Milo I did keep trying, we never got by floortime as Bette continously attacked him. There was no way I could trust her in a cage with Milo, I wouldn't be able to do anything else but worry. I think pigs can live happily side by side.

With Fred and Marvin, Blood was drawn and I'd seen them attack each other more than once, so didn't try and reintroduce. As I knew they just didn't work.

Perhaps they could get shared floortime?

my boars fouhgt and blood was drawn. we were scared of course, but we bathed them together, and reintroduced them on neutral ground. They are now best friends again and won't leave each other's side!
:)
