Just my luck! I wash my piggies vetbed, fleeces and reusable pads at least twice a week, plus all my own washing, but Thursday night my washer decided to have a holiday all of its own
:(( . As I pay insurance on it I expected to be able to get it fixed within a few days. Not a chance. The earliest day they have is 30th December!! I have a proper bag that the vetbed etc goes in but no one is wanting to do that kind of washing for me. Is it ok if I use woodshavings for 3 weeks? I'm not at all keen, but there doesn't seem to be an alternative unless anyone on the forum can suggest something better.? I feel very guilty even thinking about woodshavings

Oh gosh, how frustrating.
There are many other types of disposable bedding if you are worried about shavings - such as paper beddings. I personally prefer to use aubiose topped with hay, but getting it has been tricky of late so I have been using shavings topped with hay. If you don’t want to use shavings/other disposable at all, then you could just use newspaper (or if you mean you ha d reusable puppy pads then you can use those) with hay on top, provided you check and remove wet areas of hay daily

Thanks for that Piggies&buns. I will look on google and see what aubiose I can find thats in stock. I do have some hay that I bought during lockdown but its naff and the piggies wont eat it but it will make bedding for them.

Sorry your machine packed up. If you’re looking at shavings then try snowflake soft chip shavings. But if you can get aubiose then even better.

Ive not been able to get aubiose for two months, use Raviera, basic bliss, both are oil seed pape bedding, very similar to aubiose.Easy bed or snow flake soft chip are wood based fibre bedding but these both smell of pine oils.lately ive have been using littlemax shavings which are a medium size flake, kiln dried and spruce bedding,no smell of pine.i like these as the flakes do not tangle into long hairedpiggies. finacard is a shredded cardboard bedding only available on line, but is very absorbent...not the cheapest bedding available.only other option if you want fleece...maybe use a launderette if you have any local to you.i hope you find a solution.what an inconvienent time for the washing machine to not work.

Thanks for the info Eileen. Its great to know i've got a few options to keep my piggies comfy. I will be trawling the internet tomorrow.

I use wood shavings all the time with no problem.
I tried fleece but just couldn’t cope with the laundry.
I reverted to wood shavings which I find easy to clean and they only smell if I’m delayed with cage cleaning.

What a shame about your washing machine.
I we lived closer I wouldn’t mind washing piggy stuff for you.
Hope it does get fixed before next year.
