Apologies for starting another thread on this, but no one advised on my previous one :(
Are vinyl tiles/linoleum harmful to piggies? We are upgrading the cage again soon and we're looking for alternatives to correx.

Whereas I've seen many people use it I wanted to be 100% sure that vinyl tiles/linoleum floors are totally safe for piggies and won't release any harmful fumes... this also includes the glue used for tiles.

Please can someone help?

Thank you x

I used to use lino as I couldn't find correx big enough. I have no idea if it was safe to use but my pigs never became ill from it.

I would put plastic sides along the edges (the kind you can slide onto paper so it binds it) though so the pigs can't bite it. Or cut it short and cover it with fleece.

I was wondering this too, used as an extra base layer. I'd use loose tiles for convenience.

I have used lino and tiles. The lino wasnt stuck down but the tiles were self adhesive. I used them for my rabbit shed with no ill effects. I dont know specifically about the glue though.

I used lino for an upper layer of a c&c cage......until our little darlings started to chew it! No matter how hard we tried to cover it up they would find a way through and chew. We now have correx on the upper floor. They don't chew the correx :))

Oh dear, what are they like hey?
Ours do chew correct occasionally. Mainly when they want attention = FOOD In other words hahaha I think we will try vinyl tiles with correx edges as we can reuse current correx. Otherwise getting correx for three 2,5x 5 cages will be rather expensive :)

Well unless my research will show that vinyl isn't good for them after all :(

I use Lino to line my shed and my piggies chew it a butt with seemingly no ill effect. They also chew any plastic houses/step stools etc and I find little bits every where so I don't think they actually eat it (mostly)
