Hey can anyone advice please I have two boars but one keeps pestering the other by sometimes chasing him about the cage trying to put his nose higher and stuff it's not bad but I feel for the wee younger guy he is so subdued and quiet....but also everytime we separate them (just for cuddles) they constantly squeak for each other. Will they get by this one is about 8 month the other about 6 months xx

That's normal behaviour, it's dominance stuff so nothing at all to worry about! :)

Might be worth reading through the dominance threads on here :D

Hi! Your two boys are in the middle of the teenage hormones, so mild to medium dominance behaviour like chasing and chinning is perfectly par for the course.

As your quiet underboy is obviously happy as he is, you have to go with that. If he has separation anxiety, take them out together, but always pet, feed, groom and treat the dominant boy first in accordance with guinea pig behaviour. otherwise, he will feel obliged to remind his younger companion that he is boss even more. Some piggies can be very dramatic and boisterous and others are very quiet. They are as different as humans in their personalities, but that doesn't mean that they are unhappy.

Thank you for the replies I just feel so sorry for my younger boy I don't feel as tho he has a wee personality and I'm scared it's because rocko is the more dominant I don't want him to be scared all the time.. .plus is it normal for them to be really smelly lol xx

Also meant to say when i take them out together the oldest walks all over the top of the youngest and don't sit at peace lol x
