Lice are visible - pale/light coloured crawling creatures which will be in their hair
Mites are not visible - you can only see their eggs as black specks stuck to their hair

Whatever is on the cage is probably not mites or lice but instead a different type of bug

Hi

Please give your premises a thorough deep clean with F10.

Guinea pig skin parasites can only live on a guinea pig's body; they die very, very quickly otherwise. Only lice are visible; they are small pale crawling things in a piggy coat.
Anything else that moves in a cage/hutch is a non-specific bug; a good clean should take care of it but it is not a risk to your guinea pigs.

theses little bugs are pale/light hence the worry! iv checked the girls over multiple times and they just have a few bits of dry skin, nothing moving.

i really hope so!

hiya,
okay thankyou, by premises, do you mean everything in the room? can i spray f10 cleaner on everything / house hold things? we’ve checked the other walls in the room and they are just crawling on the wall behind the hay boxes, directly below the guinea pig cage, so if they where pig parasites they would definitely be on my girls wouldn’t they?

is the spray safe to use around my girls? how long should i keep them out the room after spraying or can they come in pretty much straight after?

They are not going to be piggy parasites - piggy parasites will not survive off of the pigs

F10 is safe to be used around them.

you don’t need to apologise! We all understand

I would move them out of the room while you deep clean (in a pinch a shower floor or bathtub with an old bath/beach towel for grip will do) and wipe everything down; including any hard piggy furniture, but F10 is safe to use around guinea pigs.

In a much smaller concentration it can be used as an antiseptic for inhaling for guinea pigs with respiratort illness, for instance. ;)

thankyou so much! f10 is the disinfectant that you can leave to dry and not wipe away isnt it?

oh wow!
