I'm thinking of treating my guinea pigs to a new hutch this summer. I fancy a double hutch with a ramp connecting the two floor but have always been concerned about there safety.

Are they safe for guinea pigs? Has anybody had any problems with guinea pigs falling off the ramp / through the hole. I'm more concerned about one getting knocked off than falling. Not sure if i'm being too over protective or if these hutches are best kept for rabbits x

My girls have a double hutch and have never had any problems with the ramp. If you're worried, you could fix a little fence to one edge of the opening and cover the ramp to prevent falls :)

I might try that. I probably have more to be afraid of from my DIY than I have of them falling :red

I have a double hutchs for my girls and my boys and they love them. The ramps came with like a fence on the sides to stop them falling off but i've never had any problems with it :)

scary thread - my two new hutches arrived today - both double level!

Might have to experiment with those ramps :(
