I've never fed grapes to a guinea pig beacuse I heard they were toxic, but just recently, I was told they were ok as long as they aren't fed too much as they were very sweet.

Are grapes safe?
Thank you! x

My understanding is that in small quantities as an occasional treat they're OK. My poor, deprived pigs get some fruit once a week (twice if I'm feeling really REALLY generous, or my human children haven't noticed it in time) - and that'll be one grape each, or a length of apple peel or a couple of blueberries. I also tend to slice grapes into halves or quarters; whether that's necessary or not I have no idea, but it makes it easier for me to scatter things about so they have to work a bit to get them :D

Thank you! I will try to give a quarter of a grape to my guinea pig tomorrow and see if he likes it (since he has never had it before)
Do you know what colour grapes specifically or are all ok?

I’ve fed mine seedless grapes (any colour) once or twice but they didn’t take to them lol.

Mine won't touch grapes, or blueberries or strawberries- they get apple once a week in winter and watermelon rind in the summer. I gave them banana once, but mostly they just sniffed it and nibbled the skin.

Mini adores grapes and blueberries, in fact I think blueberries are his new favorite thing ever! I first offered him one a week or two back and to say he polished it off was an understatement! We joked that he'd got a new trick - how to magically make blueberries disappear!

Grapes, they both like and if they are eating something else and I put grapes in they will leave whatever they are eating and come and hoover the grapes up!

Grapes are high in sugar so should be fed sparingly (not too many if you're a diabetic human either 3-4a day apparently).

I give mine seedless grapes as a treat probably about 2-3 times a month. I either cut them in half or skin them whole - otherwise the girls won't touch them!
... Probably not a bad thing as I guess it's like biting my finger if it still has the skin on it!
Mine love grapes, pears, apple & melon... Banana skin but not fussed about the banana strangely enough?! Xx

Same as above, 2-3 times a month for grapes. I rotate with other fruits though so they do get apples, blueberry, and etc so about 2-3 times a week of small amount of veggies is what they get.

Continuing from the top, I meant fruit when I said 2-3 times a week as grapes, apples and blueberries are fruits and not veggies.

Sorry for the confusion. My Finn and Lara get veggies three times a day not three times a week.

I have fed my two seedless grapes of all colours but only occasionally as they are high in sugar, I am mean with fruit for the piggies and they might get a piece once a month normally apple as they love apple but usually peels as they love peels off anything.
