Back in January Tico had a spay at c&r. The reason for the spay was mystery weight loss, she definitely had the symptoms of cystic ovaries and nothing else was visibly wrong so we went for the spay in case. Turns out she had some cervical cancer but Simon, the surgical god that he is, removed the cancer during the spay and she's been doing well since. She's on long term metacam but is otherwise happy and maintaining her weight.
After the spay the symptoms of her ovarian cysts went away. She only ever had the crusty/swollen nipples and the grumpiness, no bald spots. The symptoms have now come back. Simon says that she had really gnarly ovaries covered in cysts and it's not unlikely that some got left behind and has regrown. Short of opening her up again there's not much they can do and as her long suffering husboar Cookie is still dealing fine with her mood swings, that's not an option given the risks.
My question is, she has very crusty nips. To me they look really uncomfortable but that might be projecting. Would she find them uncomfortable? Is there anything I can do to help the crusts without medical intervention?
