I offered my boys strawberries in the past, but they didn’t touch them. I thought I’d offer them just the strawberry top today. Can you imagine, they actually BACKED AWAY from it?! And not just the one but BOTH OF THEM!? Bear in mind these are super YUMMY (I’ve had more than a few)

I’m thoroughly confused  what do your guinea pigs turn their noses up at?

Not strawberries - or tops! They are serious treats in my house.

My neighbour added some of his allotment veg to my carefully chosen and pre-portioned veggies when they were looking after the piggies (I've since told him not to and the reasons why too much veg isn't a good thing) which explained the leeks that remained uneaten in the cage.

I ask you .... what guinea pig likes leeks - I am soon to find out no doubt!

Mine did exactly the same! I love strawberries so much & thought I would share some I'd picked from the garden but apparently I was trying to poison them. Just given them a halved blueberry for the first time and they are much more interested in that.

Mine are not overly keen on strawberries either. But blueberries are very favoured. And today water melon went down a treat.

These two like blueberries too. They didn’t like mango either. Isn’t leek not allowed @Pigwhisperer

I’m curious to know if any pigs like courgette!

My girls hate strawberries so much they buried them in the toilet tray! The werent keen on grapes or watermelon when they tried them before either, but we're going to try watermelon again this weekend because I just bought a huge one :)

All three of my piggies also agree that butternut squash is yucky, which is annoying because us humans and the giant african snails love it and eat it every week. And Theo hates orange peppers even though he loves red and yellow ones- orange peppers always get buried then pooped on!

Mine loved green beans last week but yesterday they were apparently evil and did not get a nibble. They have started eating spring greens again though. Maybe I should try courgette again, which also hasn't gone down too well before although they were interested by it at first.

Mine will eat the green bits off strawberries but won't touch the fruit. One of them likes blueberries but the other is disgusted by them. They will both eat watermelon and honeydew, but only one will eat cantaloupe. Very fussy creatures.

Leonard very much agrees that strawberries are not to be trusted! Or tomatoes for that matter..Bramble doesn't care much for fennel, or certain types of mint. She's not that fond of watermelon either come to think about it.. :hmm:
Luckily no one else is too fussy!

Yes tomatoes are definitely evil, we tried them once but they are such a devil food that anything in the same food dish was so unbearably contaminated that it couldnt be eaten and there was so much outraged wheeking I had to fix them a whole new dinner!

Oti does not seem to like any fruit: strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes (technically a fruit). Neither of my boys seem willing to eat zucchini or kale.

Apples are ok with my lot, especially chilled in the fridge on a hot day- the only non-satanic fruit :)

A digression:
The difference between knowledge and wisdom is knowing that tomato is a fruit while wisdom is never putting it in a fruit salad.

Mine will eat courgette but only if its peeled otherwise it's the devil's food! They won't touch raspberries but argue over strawberries as they love them so very much!

I love that quote.
I'm sure I've mentioned this before but in case I haven't! My Grandfather used to put sugar on tomatoes, my mother used to tell him off for setting a bad example to the children. I'm sure I only remember that because my mother told him off, not because he put sugar on tomatoes. :))

Sorry my phone went wierd and put my reply halfway through the quote!

None of mine will eat strawberries, but they all love the leaves and the runners. 4 like mint - one hates it, and won't even eat the Burgess nuggets with mint. Courgettes just get ignored by them all. 4 eat the grass first, one eats the nuggets first. They all love blueberries and watermelon. It's all a matter of taste I suppose.

My last pair refused to eat strawberries, if they got a fruit treat it really had to be blueberries or melon. Blitzen would eat pretty much everything I tried him with except sage. Comet wouldn't eat beans at all, and went through stages of refusing to eat mint (but Blitzen ate it, so Comet got over that one pretty quick), spring greens (I ate it in front of them both, clearly we couldn't have me stealing their food), strawberries, courgette, cucumber (but then I tried them on baby cucumber...and then we had fights over who got to eat it first) and broccoli (can't blame them, the smell makes me want to hurl).

l do add a sweetener to tined toms as they are bitter.

My Jon Snow has a very sweet tooth and loves to inhale strawberries, but the other 4 pigs don't like them.

Banana seems to be a marmite food for pigs. They love it or really hate it. One of my boys used to reverse at top speed away from bananas, he was like a vampire vs garlic!

Blueberries tend to be a winner overall.

Mine love strawberries and apple and tomatoes but flatly refuse blueberries, melon, raspberries ( leaves are yummy but not the fruit) banana - in fact any other fruit

Nibbles LOVES babycorn but now turns her nose up at spring greens. She also seemed to enjoy the blueberry i gave her last weekend. Going to treat her to a strawberry this weekend. Am i right to limit it to 1 small piece of fruit a week or can they have a bit more? Speedy isnt too fussy she will happily eat the spring greens that nibbles no longer likes although she wasn't a fan of the blueberry!
