I have 2 of these runs:

Even though on the box is says Hutch with run. I just want some opinions on them

Mojo and smudgy have 1 each as they cant be together as they fight 8...
Are these ok to let them be out in over night while we have this nice weather or should I bring them back in over night?

In all honesty, if you can have your piggies indoors at night, I would.
Too many risks..someone has had her piggies stolen this week and I'd worry about predators too :...

They normally are inside piggies. I just like them outside having the nice fresh air as my house gets very warm in summer and very difficult to ventilate.

I will just have them outside in the day and bring them back inside at night

A fox will get under that in approx 1.2 milliseconds

Piggies MUST be in a secure hutch or in indoor accommodation overnight, whether you have ever seen a fox or not. You should also never leave them outside unattended, I have seen foxes wandering around at lunchtime before in residential areas.

We get people board with us who ask us to leave their piggies out all day when we are at work, it is one of the few things I point blank refuse to do.

Hi,

I agree about the foxes, as I was looking at the picture, I was thinking a fox would flip that over in seconds.
I have had a run like that before and used it during the day, but I definitely don't think it's safe for night.
One tip for daytime use, is to secure the sides of the run down with tent pegs or something similar, just for extra security. I never leave my guinea pigs in their run if i'm out for more than an hour or so. I know there are foxes in the gardens in our street.

Sorry, i just wanted to add, it is also a good idea to add an extra bolt or something to keep the door shut. The run you have looks like the same one i used to have (with a heart shaped handle). I found the handle came loose after a while and therefore not very reliable.
I found the run great for shelter though, as the "hutch" part of it was off the floor and kept my piggies dry.
Helen.

I know someone that kept their guinea pigs in a run overnight and a fox did manage to get to them. I'm not sure what sort of a run it was though. I have the same run as the one in your photo but my piggies are only in it when I'm around. I would'nt feel comfortable leaving them in it unattended.

Mine has actual bolts not the stupid heart shaped lock.
I will get those dog leash pegs which screw into the ground as Its not really fair on the pigs being stuck inside on nice days while I am at work :(
Fortunatly I have the week off next week so I can be outside with them.

I personally wouldn't risk it, my boys live in a coop and i always shut them in at night just in case of greedy cats or foxes.
I open the coop in the morning when i feed them, go to uni and when i feed them at night i lock them back in again.
