I am used to hamsters who are very territorial and there are certain things they need e.g. wheel, toilet, nest etc.
What do Guinea pigs need in an indoor cage? And should it be laid out in a particular way? I have seen hay over litter trays and people discussing kitchen areas. Do piggies like to have their 'things' moved about for change or should things stay put.
Thanks.

I have a wooden cabin for each of mine, two water bottles, two food bowls a tunnel, a bed. I just put hay in a pile for them as they like to play in it as well as eat it. I move my things around each time I remove poops to ensure no area gets wet. I don't have kitchen areas and have the bowls in different places.

Thanks. So if I have two piggies I need two of everything? Would they sleep in the same bed, like in a hutch?

Yes you need two of everything. Some piggies do share a bed but mine won't! I would just have two so there are no fights.

I have a tunnel or hidey plus per piggie plus an extra. I only have one water bottle for my pair and trio, one food bowl for the pair and 2 for the trio. Each cage has a large hay rack.

Just to let you know, piggies tend to enjoy decorating their own cages.
You can put items in places where you want but don't be surprised if you find them moved to another place in the cage, many different times. :))

Lol!

That sounds like my Cream, I make his cage all neat and tidy and within 5 mins his bowls are tipped over, his pillow upside down, tunnel moved and his fleece pulled up!

at the moment eddie and mollie have - 3 cardboard boxes, 3 tunnels, 2 cosy beds, 2 water bottles, 2 bowls (for night time pellets), a hay area, and a plate of hay in another area, and some chew sticks :))

In my cage I always have two snugly burrow bag type beds, a cozy tunnel, a fiddle sticks tunnel, two pong balls for them to push around, apple tree twigs, one loofah/dried squash treat thing, their pellet/veggie bowl, a toss and play "carrot", and a hay rack full of hay. I also have one water bottle at the moment because I bought a second but it was horribly leaky so I need to purchase another one. They love things to fiddle with/nibble on and they love a nice cozy place to relax and pass out :)!

my 4 girls have a cuddle cup each, 2 cardboard tubes to hide in and chew on, a hay tray, water bottle and 2 food bowls. I don't like to put too much in there so they can run around, and they spend all day out on the grass.

You need,
1: Water Bottle
2: Food Bowls (One for treats and one for food)
2 (Bags): Of Wood Chips For Them To Go The Bathroom In.
1: (Bags) Of Dog Training Pads To Line The Cage
With For Them They Pee
1: Fleece Blanket To Put On Top Of The Liner.
1: Hut, (Something For Them To Hide In)
2: Chew Toys (Wooden Toy Found At Local Pet Stores)
And Anything Else For Them To Feel Comfy! :D
