Have been using Cystopro in Bumbles water as advised by my vet - but have bought something else by mistake - Cystophan for cats (Cystopro was also for cats ) both have glucosamine in and are for cats urinary health - anyone using cystophan? - will also email the company - but experience tells me I will have to wait a while for an answer.

We use cystophan, the vet prescribed it for Wilma. As she's been having bladder problems.
Great - not a wasted purchase then - and about half the price of the cystopro - thanks x

My Amy was put on it on Saturday after her xray showed no stone (phew). She already has IC and was on Glucosamine but the vet said this was better. I have kept her on the Glucosamine aswell though as the amount in Cystophan is miniscule compared to what she is used to. The one we were given says for cats.

Is Cystophan a prescription medicine? Fo you use anything else along with the cystophan for Bumble's bladder problems?

What's the difference between Cystophan and Cystease (which I use)/Cystaid etc in terms of contents and glucosamine dose? I've just bought another big bottle of Cystease so I'm not going to change at the moment but it's good to know for future...

I think the dose in 1 tablet of both Cystease and Cystophan is the same - 125mg but I was told to give only half a tablet of Cystophan a day which works out at 62.5mg a day, whereas Amy is on 250mg of Glucosamine and had been doing well on it up to this recent blip which was triggered by an infection. It looks like the other 2 active ingredients are the same too - Hylauronic acid and L-Trytophan. So basically the products are identical.

Ta! Too many trade names for the same thing!
Angus has 1 capsule of cystease a day but if we do less we get back to squeaky wees and needing metacam more often. Ironic as that's the maintenance dose for a cat 4 times his weight!

It's frustrating isn't it. A friend did a lot of research into Glucosamine doses and recommended double the standard 125mg dose after trialling it with her own pig who suffered with Interstitial cystitis and that is why Amy is on the higher dose.
