I’m knew to this group. Around 3 weeks ago we got got 2 male 13 week old Guinepigs one has scan/ hair loss on its face we thought it may be a scratch from his brother as the other one he is nervous and will screw it over him there is no visible scab doesn’t seem to puss or be sore. We have got some anti bacterial power, your seems to have no scan now but hair loss. Anyone got ant ideas?

Please have your piggies seen by a vet and dont put any creams, pet shop products or any home treatments on your guinea pigs. Any home treatments may make the problem worse as you do not know what you are treating, are likely to hide evidence a vet needs to make a diagnosis and can therefore delay getting the correct treatment.

Only a vet can make a diagnosis and prescribe treatment, but as you mention new piggies and hair loss on the face, then ringworm would be one of the first things to come to mind. If you could add a picture, then we may be able to spot some tell tale signs but even with pictures, we cannot make a diagnosis. If it was to be ringworm, then a topical anti bacterial treatment is not the right thing to use in any event.

Our ringworm guide is linked in below in case that is what a vet diagnoses. Ringworm is highly contagious including to people and requires the correct treatment (creaming is ineffective) and extreme hygiene practices

Hi!

Please see a vet for the diagnosis and do not home treat on spec. You can reclaim any vet fees from the place you have got your piggies from because you have in effect been sold damaged ware if you have your piggies seen promptly as soon as they show signs.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I hope the vet can diagnose the problem and it’s easily sorted.
Sometimes the stress of moving house can trigger illness in piggies. Young piggies also have a lower immune system. Please have him seen by a vet as I had a very young piggy pass at the end of 2020 with sore patches. The vets couldn’t find out what was wrong with him. ❤️
