As i am currently looking for two piggies, i posted on FB asking for reputable rescue centres nearby. (Before i found this forum, so now going through the list on here 😊)

However a lot of people mentioned "Pet Trade Livestock" in Tidmarsh. Has anyon heard of them? To me it looks like any normal shop and not a rescue at all? Am i right?

If you live in the Reading area, possibly the two nearest rescues to you on the forum rescue locator are Burford heading north or Bishop's Waltham heading south. Both look about an hour and a quarter away by car so not exactly nearby but they may be your best bet. (Guessing at your location as you mentioned Tidmarsh.)

They certainly are not a rescue - just breeders.
Our approved rescue locator lists all the rescues who have met our high standards for their rescue, accommodation and rehoming activities. By adopting from one of our approved rescues you will get a properly sexed, health checked and properly bonded pair. This means you are likely to have fewer unpleasant surprises than buying from a breeder or pet shop who focus primarily on profit. They won’t push sick, potentially pregnant piggies on you or an unworkable bond (boar trio or mismatched pair etc).
Look forward to seeing photos once you have found your piggies.

Thanks all, didnt look like a rescue at all! Ive enquired at the one in Burford, I'm alsoin contact with this Little Piggy in Richmond..i would rather travel further for a healthy and happy piggy! Hopefully will hear back soon, as I'm so excited now! X

Please make sure that you ask any place not on our list whether they conduct a quarantine and have vet care. Sadly so many places calling them themselves a rescue don't. Some are simply breeder's sidelines/conducts for no longer wanted breeding stock etc. There are all shades of grey out there. This is why we have a list of vetted rescues we can guarantee for that you are in safe hands. Always worth travelling a bit further for peace of mind! That distance is what I call 'local' rescues or good vets...
