Hello! Hope this is okay to post, please delete if not!
My sisters-friends-landlady ..has found a rabbit left behind in a tiny hutch by the people who recently moved out! :hb: It’s an adorable very fluffy white rabbit that’s clearly been neglected its whole life.
Is there anyone on this forum that is rabbit savvy that could take in this rabbit or know of a rescue that has space?
My sister can’t have anymore rabbits at the moment unfortunately. And I obviously live a million miles away !

Could your sister or sister's friend perhaps take the rabbit to a rescue?
Hope it finds a lovely home soon.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Not sure how it’s fallen to my sister to try and find help for the rabbit especially when she lives in Essex. No luck so far, She’s waiting to hear back from a rescue. But she’s now considering taking the rabbit in herself (just trying to figure out where to put an unvaccinated and entire male rabbit away from her rabbits until safe to bond etc) she’s also not a confident driver so trying to figure out getting to Gravesend.
Fingers crossed!

Some people seem to attract things like this 'falling to them'. I don't mean that in any bad way. Best wishes to her

I feel for her. This would happen in winter too, whether snow and ice on roads or not, they're probably busy and visibility often not at its best. I never was a confident driver either. Maybe she knows somebody to whom the idea of driving her to rescue the rabbit could 'fall'? Keeping fingers crossed.

Oh yes definitely, I also attract unwanted pets!

The landlady kindly drove the rabbit to my sisters house. So now my sister is keeping it..yay!
She’s not sure if the rabbit is a boy or girl but taking it to the vet tomorrow to help get the rabbit cleaned up, and find out what sex it is. She said it’s full of poo mats underneath and needs a backend shave. And also stinks.
Surprisingly looks very clean In the photo, but that was after my sister brushed it as well as she could.
So glad it now has a loving home. Apparently been popcoring/binkying already, loving the space.
Doesn’t look like a real rabbit does it!

I am so glad your sister has this rabbit.
I take in unwanted pets all the time. I nearly 3 years I have taken in 13 guinea pigs, 3 rabbits, 12 hamsters and 4 rats

Please tell your sister to be very careful about not letting the rabbit near her original rabbits. There’s a new, very virulent strain of RHD2 that is wiping so many rabbits out. Vets will be getting single dose vaccines in January.
Thank you so much, I’m sure she would know but I’ll tell her just in case!
She’s currently got this rabbit indoors away from her two, who live in a huge safe, fun rabbit haven outside.

The rabbit went to the vet today and they found out she’s a female and had her vaccinated and cleaned up.
(Temporary set up)

People always get mixed up between tortoiseshell and Calico, this lady is a Calico. 👍

Ah I’ve always know that colour as ‘Tortishell and white’ I thought calico was just an american term for some reason!
Now I know!
Either way she’s gorgeous! My cat in England (whom of course lives with my mum) is that colour too.

and our cat before that- Crystal was also that colour. She lived until she was 21!
Hence my soft spot for them :)
