I've got that exact cage and it's excellent. It is a fab size and very sturdy good quality cage. I thought they were the same as ferplast?

I highly recommend the company too they are excellent to deal with (Dabners)

i have this cage for ches and maisie. it's a nice. the actual floor size is a bit smaller than it states the cage is though. but it's all right. good company too. they delivered really quickly. :)

Thanks for your replies. Trixie is a different make than Ferplast, I wonder how they compare qualitywise?

I read that Trixie has a smooth base so easier to clean. Are he cage and bars both white?

Do either of you have the stand for it?

Thanks!

That cage is sold over here and for a regular cage it's MASSIVE! It also looked like really good quality. I can't remember if the base is smooth but I was thinking about getting that same cage before I built mine. I like that it's not multi coloured (because I'm boring) :p.

I also have the stand. My bars are black too not white.

The stand is white.

It is very easy to clean and smooth bottomed.

It comes with a house, a funky water bottle, a food bowl and a grid second storey and ramp that is obv no good for a guinea so we are going to line with a correx box and change the ramp and actually use the upstairs.

I think its expensive but good quality and for me it was worth the money.

You wont find one on zooplus that has the same dimensions I don't think (they didn't have when I looked)

I agree with Lisa on this one. I have the 120 version at the moment and it is by far the best quality cage I have seen. It is really sturdy and by that I mean that the bars are strong and thick. Some cages I think look cheap and when you push on the bars, they give quite a bit. This cage doesn't.

I'm considering getting 2 of these and selling my 120 one to house two groups of 3 piggies. Only thing thats making me think twice at the moment is that I'm not sure it will be big enough for 3 boars in a group.

I also think that the price reflects the quality. I really want to have more of these cages, if the dimensions are big enough.

Thanks for your replies, I am getting rather tempted by the Trixie.

I understand that it is quite expensive but I did look at Zooplus and the only one they have is the Rabbit 140 and that is quite expensive on there.

Even though the trixie may not be quite as big as 150cm when you take into account the slope of the tray, I reckon it still has to be a little larger than the Rabbit 140cm.

I like the idea of a sturdy one, I currently have Neros (4 and the other's a 3 I think) and they are ok quality but I am hoping the trixie might be a bit better than that.

I have four cats, three of whom are half Siamese and quite young and lively and into everything, we don't let them in the room with the pigs when we are not around but I'd like a stronger cage just in case. Usually they ignore the pigs and the pigs ignore them but occasionally one climbs on top of the cage and the whole top bend a bit :o especially with James cat cos he is huge :))

The clips on my Neros keep popping off so that nothing is holding the top down onto the tray, have any of you had that with a Trixie?

What are the opening like on a Trixie, is there one you can open and let the pigs run in and out on their own if you want?

The stand looks quite sturdy compared with my Nero stand. Does anything attach/hold the cage tray onto the stand though?

Thanks again for all your help on this, it's such a dilemma knowing which cage to buy! It's quite a lot of money and I want to get it right.

If your cat sat on top of the Trixie, I can't see it bending.

Also, the clips on mine have never popped off but I haven't moved it about much either. I don't take it apart to clean, I just lean in (but it is fairly high and a bit of a stretch!) Either that, or I open the front door and literally climb half in! :(|)

Not sure whether the 150 is the same, but the 120 version has a really big opening at the top (about 3/4) and then another smaller one to the front (about 1/3 length of the cage). Both have little hooks that you can lodge the door underneath so that the can't be pulled open, and it is a tight fit so children etc wouldn't easily get into the cage! Other animals wouldn't be able to open it either.

The tray is quite deep, but if you made a ramp in and out then they could run freely if thats how you keep yours.

The shelf on the stand has hooks that slot into little tube fittings on the frame and you slot it in when you screw the stand together. The shelf does bow if you put a lot on it (bags of food etc) but I doubt it would break unless you piled it full of really heavy stuff. I've got 3x 2.5 kgs bags of food, a wooden hut thing, fleece, the cage shelves and ramps that it came with, cleaning spray, treats etc etc on mine and it isn't a problem.

Good luck with your choice, I don't think you will be disappointed if you went for the Trixie.

:)p

Hi all

I just found a cage which claims to be 150cm long! It is made by Trixie who I have never heard of though. Anyone else heard of them? Are they as good as Ferplast do you think?

The cage is http://www.dabners.co.uk/product-5127-trixie-rabbit-150-indoor-cage.html

Thanks!
Alex

I was looking at buying that very same cage a wee while ago for my girls but unfortunately funds have ran out so they are going to have to wait for it. I love the fact that you can buy a stand too.

I haven't heard of them but I think it's funny how it says 'rabbit cage' and the picture shows a ferret... :p

Hello

I took delivery of my Trixie 150 yesterday and would be really interested in how you have adapted the second storey and ramp as I would like to do the same.

Thanks :)

I've just got one of these too, although I got mine from Jollye's for £97 (without the stand). I agree that the ramp is totally useless (even for rabbits). I plan on hooking the ramp up to close the hole in the floor and then making a totally new ramp from wood. I may have to cut a piece of the balcony off to do this but I don't think it will affect the strength of it.

I think there's room to add a third level at the other end too. I'll be busy with bits of wood this weekend!
