I got a hutch end of summer anyway come winter I got fed up with shavings blown in my face and being wet cleaning them out. So I got rid of the hutch and moved them indoors. Anyway I clean them out every 3 days and there still smelling 🤢 our house is quite small and our garden small also so no room for a big shed..

I’m not bothered about the cold just being wet and the wind so looking for some other options.

It is a good idea to use something like this for shelter for outdoor pigs if you don’t have space for a full shed but my concern with this particular type would be the lack of natural light when the doors are closed. You would have to leave it open during the day to ventilate and get light, which would expose them to cold/damp/draughts.
ideally though, you won’t be able to move them back outside until spring now though. It will be too cold for them to go back outside now

you could try to make a diy window with plastic. it might be hard to do though. also pricey... :hmm:

This type of shed would need to be placed in a sheltered spot against a wall or building because it could be blown over by strong winds. There is also no window for natural light

What about this one? If you where to try and cut a window out of the other one you will find it will loose its stability. this costs a bit more but has natural light

I don’t think my head would fit though that let alone my body. I’m plus size 😂 x I don’t mind them in but its just the smell 😬 I thought it wouldn’t be bad but I clean them every 3 days x

What are they bedded on?
What sex are the piggies? I only ask as boys scent mark more if you over clean
.

The type of bedding, cage size, change times and amount of piggies. I have two boars on newspaper underneath fleece, I change twice a week and have no problems with smells or dampness

There on wood shavings and have also tried aubiose there are 2 girls 1 boy there in a indoor run atm with courrex until I’ve sorted out a new cage x 5x2 C&c cage x

i use an inch of aubiose and change once a week with 1 neutered boar and 2 sows,in a 150 x80cm cage.i do not have any smells.you do need at least an inch depth of aubiose so that the hemp bedding can cap off wet areas and keep the top layer smell and wet free.x

I have my two Guinea Pigs in an unheated barn. This is central Kentucky USA, and sometimes outdoor temperatures go as cold as -18° C. So, in their larger area I have an old insulated picnic cooler. I cut a small door in the side, near the bottom, so they can run in and out. I use poplar wood shavings inside. There is also a ceramic reptile heater (60 watts) mounted in the lid, with a thermostat (they can't reach it). This is the same setup someone with lizards would use in their reptile aquarium. Even if the barn is cold, the pig 'cooler' easily stays at 10° C or above.
