I've just been looking at people's set up's for their pigs and I noticed that the plastic cages seem to be popular. Some very good set up's :) I use these for my rats and sometimes for overwintering hedgehogs. I didn't really consider using them for the piggies, it just never occurred to me. I have an xl dog crate for the pigs - although its just Dougal in it at present. I like the crate as its spacious and the door is left open all the time so they can wander in and out as they please. I am hoping to bond Dougal to our new arrival so am considering adding a platform level to the crate in the future. Does anyone else use dog crates?

I have done, i have an xl crate that was my labrador's, i find that they are spacious, i think @ClaireW also uses one. Mine is currently a base for my rabbit :)

I have an XL one. I used as a temporary indoor cage over the winter and when I had a poorly guinea pig.

They are very spacious but as I had four pigs at the time, I left the door open when I could so they could come in and out as they pleased. It was nowhere near big enough for four as a permanent home.

The only downside is because the base is so shallow, they kicked their bedding everywhere and they peed out the sides and up the skirting board.

I draped a fleece over mine to cover the back to stop the pee problem and put newspaper underneath the cage to protect the carpet.

My pigs are now permanent indoor guinea pigs living in a ferplast rabbit 120 double (they used to live free range in a shed) but the dog crate will be useful as a hospital cage should I ever need it.
