We have a multi level cage - now I do not expect them to be on all levels yet (we only got them the other day so certainly not that big). But I was wondering how you know when they are ready and any tricks so to speak to encourage them, help them etc etc. Thanks very much in advance x

I just bought a multi level cage as I adopted another piggy last week and they needed more room, they are still getting used to it themselves but to encourage them to go on the different levels I've put their beds up top and food down bottom so they have to go to both levels to get to what they want, they aren't keen on the ramp yet and squeak the whole way down it, but they will eventually realise they have to use the levels, when you take them out put them back at the different levels so they get used to each one and hopefully in time our piggys will love our new cages for them.

I've attached tunnels to my ramps so they feel secure when they use them. Coco and Lily race up and down them but Fleur still refuses despite using food to tempt her and placing her on the different levels

Can I ask where you got the tunnels from - do you mean a willow/wood type tunnel or a fabric/sock one.
Also do you think vetbed on them would help - just I am now pricing up some vet bed to use just wondering ideas here.
Thanks all for replies. x And kind of handy to know I am not the only one. We have beautiful 3 story cage - 100 x 58 ish and 150 ish tall so NICE and big for the 2 of them as we wanted to make sure we had enough space (got a little shock when building it lol).
I did read on here about cosy cavies but having researched but they are currently not making any. I assume from looking these are just a large sock well leggin more I guess as no foot, just I am fairly good with sewing machine so could try and make one out of fleece. If I did any ideas on attaching it to the ramps?
Sorry so many questions - thank you all for your patience and support with a newbie x

I use some of that rubber matting stuff, think you can get it from poundland.
It's used to put on surfaces like a car dash to stop things sliding off and has a very small diamond pattern. I attatched mine using rubber bands to the ramp, they now have no problem bumbling up and down, although do tend to stay at the top of the cage 90%of the time it seems rolleyes

Ahh super idea thank you. I think I even have some of that somewhere! Will look it out tomorrow,
Pirate did manage getting up to the half level last night so was rather pleased - little steps lol but I know they are still very young.
Thanks again x

I've used wooden willow type tunnels as it gives them grip, makes them feel safe and something for them to chew on. I know some people use fleece while others have attached wooden banisters.

Oh so excited pirate managed the first FULL level today. I attached one of those corrigated type tubes (plastic bendy ones that make a funny noise when you undo them). Anyway he DID it, I was standing a little way a way when I heard him on the plastic of it and then stood there watching (not breathing!) So he got up!. Then coming down he moved the tube so it got wedged - back up he went so I have now elastic band and taped it on for the moment hoping he comes down again lol but have put food and water on that level just incase.

I made little sides for the ramp on my multi level cage, as I was frightened Bill & Ted might fall off.

Nailing them on, I also cut up some old carpet tiles and double stick taped them down onto the ramp to make it easier for my piggies to go up and down.

They love it, running up and down.

To clean, I just hoover it :))

Love
Anj, Billy & Ted (piggies)

Ok he has now mastered getting up with a HUGE amount of noise as is a corrigated tube which he LOVES> However any tricks to get him back down. I think I have made rod for my own back so to speak as I made sure water and food on all levels in case he got stuck!
Am sure he will get there - going to get another tube now for the next level.
