So my two sheets of correx are here and am going to try and cut/fit them this afternoon whilst me eldest is at pre-school, has anyone any tips for making sure I don't go wrong? Also what sort of tape have people used, I've got most types (sellotape, packing tape, insulating tape, the white stuff you use for decorating etc)- eeek I'm quite excited! Did most people use a stanley knife to cut it?

hiyah, you have to cut it the right way so it bends without splitting but i cant remember which way lol really helpful.

I used the silver duct tape about five years ago and it is still going strong.

Use duct tape and a stanley knife.

Measure out and mark your cutting lines on the back of the correx. I found it easier when the lines were drawn out completely. Depending on the thickness of the correx, allow 1cm of space for folded over bits on the outside, so you can still lift our the correx easily afterwards.

Cut from the back through only one layer, so you can fold up the sides, leaving no gaps on the inside. You can either cut away the corner squares, or cut through completely on one side, so you can fold them over. If necessary, practise on a sheet of paper first.

You will find that the lengthwise cuts are much easier that the ones across.

I found that just exposing a small amount of the stanley knife blade prevented me from accidentally cutting right through cos that is soooo easy to do by accident.
Also having a long straight bit of wood (or something straight) may help with your cutting lines.
I used duct tape.
Good luck and watch your fingers :)

Thankyou all, those are really good tips, I've just deposited my eldest at playgroup and got the youngest to sleep, so I have approx 1 hour to play with before it becomes too hazardous!

Thankyou all so much, I used all your tips like the piece of wood and keeping the blade low and it's perfect! Am just washing fleeces etc but the boys are trying it out on newspaper and seem pretty impressed :))

Well done Helen i will be coming down your way to have a look as soon as everything quiets down here, still a hectic household at the mo xx Ps have you heard about you job interview yet?
